Umuganda Days

In Rwanda, the entire country takes one Saturday a month to do community service projects - roads are shut down, and everyone is mandated to spend time working alongside one another. They call that day Umuganda, which means “come together” in kinyarwandan. Now, we won’t be instituting fines for not attending like the Rwandan government, but we want to learn from their intentionality and set aside regular times for us to do projects around our Parish, Park and Farm.

Umuganda means “come together” in kinyarwandan

Multiple times a year, we gather to have our own Umuganda days at the church. You can come for the whole time or come for an hour. We have a short time of morning prayer and hot breakfast together before breaking out to various jobs and projects. We end the day with personal pizzas made in our wood fired pizza oven to celebrate new friendships and the work we did together.

Our next Umuganda Day is Saturday, August 27th, 2022. Sign up here!
