Initiatives
Alongside our partnerships and the daily running of our farm, we have several initiatives towards which we focus most of our energies. We’re passionate about each of these initiatives as we believe that they bring flourishing to the people and land, supporting our mission of cultivating a “front porch” farm where the church, community, and the land are all nourished by the Gospel.
Farm to Flourish
Both our wider Greensboro community as well as our farm’s church community have a large population of East African refugees who often face unique challenges and lack of vibrant educational or occupational opportunities because of their socio-political status. Our Farm to Flourish program provides practical farm training, discipleship, and income opportunities for some of these amazing East African youth. Our F2F interns meet every weekend for hours of farming, classes, and sharing a meal together. Additionally, they are able to gain leadership experience as they lead groups of volunteers who visit our land on weekday evenings and weekends. They are a vital part of our farm community and we love flourishing with them!
Parish Gardens
In partnership with our church, we launched the Redeemer Parish Gardens initiative (RPG) in 2026 to help provide homegrown food to our East African refugee neighbors. The Farm partners with our Parish Garden families, who have committed to grow produce local to us but also native African varieties that would be familiar to them. The “first fruits” of the harvest will will then be distributed to our East African neighbors through The Center for New North Carolinians.
Ikaze Ministry
In addition to Farm to Flourish, we want to continue to be able to welcome more East African refugees who are making a new life in Greensboro. We’ve begun Ikaze Ministry (meaning “welcome” in Kinyarwandan) as a partnership with our host church to welcome these families by providing lovingly grown food varieties that would be familiar to them, inviting them into community, and introducing them to the Lord who provides it all. As we welcome our new neighbors with both material goods and relationships, we hope Greensboro becomes a true place of home for them.
