Initiatives

Alongside our partnerships and the daily running of our farm, we have several initiatives towards which we focus most of our energies. We’re passionate about each of these initiatives as we believe that they bring flourishing to the people and land, supporting our mission of cultivating a “front porch” farm where the church, community, and the land are all nourished by the Gospel.

Farm to Flourish

Both our wider Greensboro community as well as our farm’s church community have a large population of East African refugees who often face unique challenges and lack of vibrant educational or occupational opportunities because of their socio-political status. Our Farm to Flourish program provides practical farm training, discipleship, and income opportunities for some of these amazing East African youth. Our F2F interns meet every weekend for hours of farming, classes, and sharing a meal together. Additionally, they are able to gain leadership experience as they lead groups of volunteers who visit our land on weekday evenings and weekends. They are a vital part of our farm community and we love flourishing with them!

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Farm Boxes

We believe that we’ve been entrusted with caring for the land, and it just so happens that when you do, it cares for you right back by bearing mouth-wateringly delicious, nutrient-dense produce. Our CSA initiative gives community members the opportunity to enjoy this harvest of the land, helping us fund our mission and living into it themselves all at the same time! The CSA runs for 18 weeks from April-July and again from September-December, with a new box of $25 worth of produce each week to enjoy.

Ikaze Ministry

In addition to Farm to Flourish, we want to continue to be able to welcome more East African refugees who are new to Greensboro. We’ve begun Ikaze Ministry (meaning “welcome” in Kinyarwandan) as a partnership with our host church to welcome these families by providing lovingly grown food and homemade meals, inviting them into community, and introducing them to the Lord who provides it all. As they receive welcome kits, join our East African farm community, and come to our East African service at church, they can be set up with both material goods and relationships which will be vital in making Greensboro a true place of home for them.
