Donate to Support our Free Farmers Market
In the midst of the pandemic, we felt the calling to respond to the growing hunger and food insecurity caused by the large spike in unemployment. Though we always donate 20-50% of our produce as a farm to local food banks, we wanted to find a way to give folks direct access to our produce, and the produce of other local farmers. We believe that in the midst of the pandemic, it is more important than ever that God’s people have access to nourishing foods that support their immune systems. The Scripture that kept coming to us was Isaiah 55: “Come buy and eat…without money and without price.” Throughout the Bible, God leads his people through desert seasons and provides for them directly with manna and quail (Exodus 16; Psalm 78) and loaves and fishes (John 6; Matthew 14; Mark 6; Luke 9), and he charges nothing. Just as he charged nothing to Adam and Eve in the garden. We believe that this market is a reminder to all of us that, fundamentally, food is a free gift from God to his creatures, through the miracle of Creation. During tough times when money is tight, the Church is called to give generously so we can be a channel of this grace.
In the autumn of 2020, we fed over 1,000 families because of the generosity of donors and a grant from Guilford County. We would like to make this market an annual part of our ministry, but need your help making it happen! Please consider donating to our ministry so we can make this incredible market happen again!
